Cool blog post on my Arizona Avenue murals in Atlanta
See it here…

HENSE

“I’ve been following the work of Atlanta visual artist and graffiti writer HENSE since the early 90s. Truth is, if you lived in Atlanta in the 90s (and beyond) and kept your eyes open, you’d see his name, his work plastered all over the city. It’s been five long years since I’ve called Atlanta home but I am still a huge fan. And when I stumbled onto some of his new work while in town recently, let me tell you. I was stoked.”

Juxtapoz gave me a little press on their blog. Cool stuff.

“For years now, Hense has remained a key player in Atlanta’s graffiti scene producing quality work in and around the city. Here the artist branches out his traditional creative medium by painting a large abstract mural commissioned by the City of Atlanta Office of Cultural Affairs.  It’s great to see city officials supporting and validating local artists in the South.”

“FLOAT” Arizona Aveune Murals

Jan 15, 2012

I’m pleased to announce the completion of “Float.”Two new public murals which beautify the walls on Arizona Avenue underneath the MARTA and CSX rails.

The public works are roughly 18x100 feet and painted with exterior latex enamel and aerosol on concrete. The pieces were funded with a grant awarded by the City of Atlanta Office of Cultural Affairs. These murals are now an asset of the City of Atlanta and will be included in the permanent collection of public art.

Arizona Avenue Murals

Nov 13, 2011

This November and early December I’ll be working on some new murals for the City of Atlanta. I received a grant from the Office of Cultural Affairs Contracts for Arts Services Program earlier this year to create the pieces. My team and I are going to install dual murals on an underpass in a neighborhood very close to where I grew up, which is Candler Park/Edgewood. They will be roughly twenty-five feet tall by two-hundred feet wide each. I chose this location because I feel it represents a portal to a growing artist community. Over the years I have watched the walls get painted by graffiti artists and covered by the City’s signature grey paint. The layers of history on this structure have always intrigued me as an artist. The walls themselves are perfect canvases for works of public art. I am very excited about the project as I believe the murals will enhance the neighborhood and provide a little color to the walls which are constantly painted grey, ultimately providing a better visual experience to residents of Atlanta.

Check back for updates with photographs and video of the process.
